AMP NZ Office Trust (ANZO) has had a clear vision for 21 Queen Street in Auckland's CBD since acquiring it in 2007. "We wanted to create a building of light, a structure with a transparent elegance for the centre of Auckland. This went hand in hand with our other commitment to provide the highest possible quality office accommodation with the least effect on the environment," says ANZO asset manager Hamish McCulloch.
To redevelop 21 Queen Street, AMP NZ Office Trust is working with consulting engineers Norman Disney Young, and Peddle Thorp Architects. The plan is to dismantle the old structure in stages, taking it back to its bare components and reconstructing it to create a building of light. ANZO's aim is for 21 Queen Street to become the first building in Auckland to be completed to the New Zealand Green Building Council's 5 Star Green Star Certified Rating standard. The 17 level office tower will have 4 extra levels added on top with the whole structure being remodeled with a new glass facade.
